If you only read two other blogs this year; make it these two: VSmack's blog, and
Jerm's blog. Also check out Triple Minority, which surely will be a credit to us all.

The blog has been moved to right about here.

interim: A few other things

I was telling someone today about the gifted program, and I said "I was in the gifted program in high school." Wow. That was weird. That part of my life is over.

Also, a certain person at work was complaining that he had to work on Carabana day, and Terry snapped. He told him that if he wanted to dance around in a bird costume, he needed to "get the hell out of my store right now, you primate." And on and on. That was cool. It's especially funny because the guy couldn't really say or do anything about it, because he was completely cowed by Terry's assault, so he just smiled nervously and muttered.

Carabana really does suck. What's the headcount on that event now? I'll take "Picnic Day" anytime.

I think I had something else to write, but, maybe later.

It might be "when I best for speed"?

Well, we decided quite late last night to wait until the morning to go home. Not that that mattered at all. Well, my arms seriously hurt from water skiing et al, and I have to work today, so that's unfortunate. It is nice, though, that I will be getting holiday pay through my union today, as well as getting double-time pay for working on a holiday. Too bad it's only 5 hours today, 'cause I could seriously sweep up. Speaking of holidays, what is "The Civic Holiday"? (No car jokes please. Unless that is actually what it is, although you'd have a hard time getting me to believe that.) My calendar informs me that August 2nd is "Bank Holiday" in Eire, Scotland as well as the cabbalistically acronymed NSW (New South Wales) and ACT (God Only Knows) territories of Australia. Here's the kicker. In NT (Northern Territories) of Australia, it's not "Bank Holiday", but the curiously antiquated "Picnic Day", strongly reminiscent of Period pieces on PBS and CBC in it's dowdier moments. These guys must be like Saskatchewan for us, eschewing Daylight Savings Time in order to gain some obscure economic advantage. Or maybe they fought a war over it, in which case, I won't call them on it. Anyways, that's it for now. I want to talk to some people later, so look for me on MSN after 7:00. Assuming this damnable virus doesn't preclude me from using the computer, see you then. Oh yeah, check this out. It's pretty good. Daily Dinosaur Comics

I am a thoroughly modern hero.

Phew. I needed a day off, in a matter of speaking. I was, in fact, working today. It was alright though. Steve is driving me further off the eastbound collecters of sanity into the oncoming Civics of madness, but we got out on time, so it's cool.

I just chilled, that all.

I've been postively murdering that Workplace Jeopardy on Q107, but I haven't actually been able to get through to play, and I'm not even sure if I'd be eligible to play.

Tomorrow's Friday, so maybe this calls for a trip to the beach? We'll see, I suppose, although I do have to be up early on Saturday. (Going to the cottage for the weekend.) Well, I guess that didn't stop me last week. Matt and I got about 3 hours of sleep.

You know, I really think I've changed quite a bit, even in the last few months. However, I also believe that these changes are easily reconciled with my overall personality, so one might not notice. I can only hope that these changes, should they truely exist, will manifest themselves in some positive, subtle way.

Toxic super-freakout.

Well, both days I was working. I didn't have to close with Steve, though, so that wasn't too bad. Monday night/ Tuesday morning was something else though. When we went out, we got stopped by the cops, but they wanted to know if we had seen "two black males" in the area, who apparently were armed. Conor was pretty freaked out, and we probably should have been, but weren't. Still, in retrospect that is worrying. Anyways, it didn't go so well. Although lauded for my technique, my eyes' "refresh rate" dropped significantly, and I was really tired and I threw up quite a bit when we got back to Jerm's. Y'all apologized and whatnot, but I do wish something had been done to prepare me or prevent this. In any event, don't worry about it. I'm fine now, and I don't begrudge you in the least. My skeletal remains took revenge upon Franz anyway, from what I hear.

Tuesday involved a trip to P-mall, where VSmack picked up LEGIT jap versions of Xenosaga 2, and Star Ocean 3! Wicked! Xenosaga 2 looks like it starts with chaos and a guy named Canaan in some sort of uber-AGWS. Also, I got to see Jin Uzuki. Shweet. Now, why the hell do we have to wait until February? That's a shame. Also picked up was a nearly complete SNES collection (not SFC, just the SNES). Also quite cool, although there might not be anyway to save, and at least "SF Alpha 2" is broken. I am now resolved to mod my PS2, to obtain this collection, and several other games I saw while we were there.

So, who know what the remains of the day will bring? See ya.

I hate Mondays

I have to work later today. Ah well, it happens. Also my head is killing me, and I can't find the acetominophen. What's Ibuprofin? I found some of that, but I didn't take it, 'cause I'm not sure if it's a diuretic or a blood thinner or what. Anyways, I have to do something about this.

Oh yeah, yesterday I played my type 2 deck at a tournament at Dolly's. I did alright, though I didn't win. I ravaged a burn deck, and lost in the third round to a really awesome "tooth and nail". So, that was fun, and good practice, although I was not able to save my grandfather's soul, or whatever. There was also a Yogioid and Duel Masters tournament going on, and there were some primates playing Duel Masters. That was awesome, because they were trying to hustle the kids out of their worthless cards. It was also cool seeing the enmity between those two games, because Yogioid apparently views DM as a pretender to the throne of fake-anime based card game, and DM rather feels that they are the vanguard of a proud new wave of fake-anime based card games. Magic players hate them both because they suck.

Heres the important part:
I'm working Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week, 5-10. I am generally finished about 10:15, and I can turn on my cell (not actually mine, it's an emergency phone, so don't try to contact me on it in other situations) at 9:00. If you are going to be doing something, go ahead and give me a call at:

416 806 7022

anytime after 9.
Not a good number like Matt's, I know. Wither tossed by fate our numbers is not for us to know.

I give up.

Well, I can't get rid of this virus. But, on the upside, it isn't doing any damage. I guess I'll recontinue use of the computer then, so updates should begin tomorrow as usual. Unless I'm blasted out of my gourd.

State of Emergency

Looks like I've got a backdoor trojan virus. I won't be using the computer much until this thing is taken care of, so give me a call preferably if you need to reach me.

It's located in a file called CTLN.DLL in the System32 folder. It's occupied by a process called ccApp, but disappears completely when the process is closed, so I can't get rid of it...

If you have any suggestions, you know what to do.

Another good day.

We did in fact go to the beach today. That guy, whose name is Jason, came again. We only got to play a few games of volleyball though, because it started to rain. The tournament occurring at the time was cancelled, and Norton informs me I have a virus. I will deal with this updat later.

I have a dream...

So, today I went to pick up the Aziz Ibrahim CD I ordered from HMV. Now, I could be wrong, I haven't checked his discography, but I don't think he ever did an acoustic release, with him on lead vocals in French. I was suspicious when the guy at HMV told me that the only release he could secure by Aziz Ibrahim was called "Les Lendemains", but I was willing to give him, a professional, the benefit of the doubt. This monoclamatic "Aziz" fellow isn't bad at all, but it's not what I was looking for. I guess I'll have to turn to the internet in September when I get a credit card through the university. Still, damn it.

I worked today. It was Tristan's last day. Just thought I'd mention it.

Also, I did some painting. I finished that model I got from the easily robbable store in downtown Ottawa. It looks awesome. I'll take a picture and link it on here sometime.

Tomorrow I'll be playing volleyball again. That's cool. I think Wil is going to invite that guy (I should have made mention of him last time because I forget his name now) that we met last time.

I had a strange dream, not in the sense that Cheech and Chong here have had, but you'll see. In the dream, I was having lunch with a celebrity comedian. No one that actually exists. Also, I was his friend. We had probably worked together in the past or something, not very good friends, just frequent aquaintances. Anyways, we were eating potato and bacon soup (I think. That's what it looked like) and he was telling me jokes he was going to use in his next show. The thing is, they weren't funny. He was like "Did you ever notice how you'll be doing 50 in the passing lane, and some guy will pull up behind you and maybe honk, and then switch lanes and sail right past you? What's up with that?" He kept giving "jokes" like this, and I didn't find them funny, but because I wasn't a good friend of his, I had to laugh so I wouldn't offend him, but I also didn't know him well enough to call him out straight. I hated that dream.
